Go into the Challenges and Online Gaming forum, and look at the NGC I'm The Best - Discussion topic. 900+ pages and still growing quite nicely.

Martin Edmundson let slip the inspiration behind one of the bugs in an early interview....

Quote:
UGO: If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?

ME: Oh, superpower. I was thinking about countries. Well, that's an easy one. Surely just to be able to fly. Because I think it would just give you the ability to see so much. You know the footage from inside jets and so on. Being able to be like Superman, so stand on the edge of a cliff and just go whoosh. I'd rather do that then have the arms like Elastic Man. It think it would be a lot more useful to fly.

Does this explain "the flying car"?? Very Happy

I stand corrected (said the man in orthopaedic shoes), that topic is HUUUGE. Anywho, with Driv3r, time will tell. Sooner or later, time will tell...

Sorry I'm being dumb. Just trying to register for their forums but it doesn't seem to be working.

I would link it but it doesn't work, so click forums, click 'Main Index', click 'General gaming' & then scroll down.

I work for a UK games magazine wrote:
The culprit right now is Atari with DRIV3R, with reports coming in today of demands for at least 9/10 score in exchange for early review code. Although the build with magazines at the moment is described as being “…two or three weeks away from being final,” it has not lived up to expectations with certain press contacts. However, in order to obtain the code, a score of nine has been demanded by Atari’s PR team.

Other culprits of late include Sonic Heroes, which Sega’s European PR office demanded scores of at least 8/10 in exchange for code, a shoddy state of affairs indeed. As you may remember, all early scores were 8/10 for Sonic. Strange huh?

Tomb Raider was another game for which it was demanded that a certain score must be granted before review coverage was agreed. Impressively, 10/10 was the requested score, though as you know, various editors bartered this down.

Another is Devil May Cry II, for which Capcom demanded 8/10 for the exclusive. Turok Evolution also came pre-decorated with an eight score.

Shocked Oh dear...

I picked the game up on my way home tonight as after all this i want to try it for myself.

Had a quick 15 minutes on it and so far it's better than i expected. No bugs so far (been playing free drive and driving games not the mission mode).

The pop up is pretty bad and there's some tearing in the graphics now and then but these are both forgivable (just) so far. The gameplay seems fine so far, no problems getting in and out of cars and no sign of any glitches or bugs yet.

I'll play it properly tonight and report back my opinions later.

In the meantime can i just say to anyone with the XBOX version who has live - you HAVE to see this clip..

Sign into live, then press right to see the list of "top director" clips people have uploaded, select one by a guy called "KASPO" uploaded on 25/06/04 at 14:23 - it's so funny.. Tanner perving over a bikini chick.. very funny stuff.. especially the part about half way where he's doing something dodgy behind a tree then seems to leave a suspect white stain on it.. Shocked

Well, I have just rented and played this game for about an hour now. I've had a free drive around the city for a good while to get used to the controls, and completed the first couple of missions.

I'll withhold full judgement on the gameplay for the moment. But to be completely fair, I would have to say that I've found the game reasonably enjoyable so far.

But, what I can say straight off the bat is that I can not for the life of me understand why, in my copy of Xbox World, they summarise the graphics at the end of their review with the words "Stunning cars and cities. Just Stunning - 9".

The graphics are noticably poor from the very moment you start playing the game. How anybody could claim to sort out that mess in a few weeks is beyond me.
