Does anyone know why the the 'Atari people invade Gamesradar' thread has vanished? It was here up until about 4pm and now it's nowhere to be seen.

Censorship again most probably. We all know what the admin are like...

Imagine if this thread put off as little as 10% of those people viewing from buying it. 5,570 people. at £45 a copy, Atari would have lost a whopping £250, 690.50

Well, conjecture in the extreme, but you never know.

Phew. Two Edits there.

The thread has definitely been deleted - it's linked to in the PC Gamer forum, among other places, but if you follow the link you get a "This topic does not exist" message. And as has been noted, Babel have deleted the offending references from their website.

Exactly what is it that Future, Babel and Atari don't want you to know, viewers? It sure is a mystery.

Yes, I got a PM from Mike yesterday, explaining that the thread had been deleted due to its libellous content and heavy-handed criticism of the Babel Media employees. Make of that what you will.

>>fat babies<<

Right I posted this on the previous page and it appears to have gone unnoticed, Fat Babies is a forum for people IN the industry and here we see them talking about the Driv3r scandel.

On the subject of persueding mags to give you a better score

Quote:
Been going on since the start of the industry.......been a while since I directly dealt with magazines but it used to be that there were 'rules'. Mostly the Publisher's seemed to put pressure on one magazine in order to get that one 'good review' they need to satisfy distributors and retail. Though a couple of times I remember seeing reviews for games that we hadn't even put into QA yet.

Shocked

you'd have a hard time finding someone who doesn't believe that UK gaming mags are bribe-taking whores

Shocked

By the way, Future are currently wondering what to do about this thread, so don't be surprised if it also suddenly disappears.

If they have any sense at all they'll leave well alone and let this die out naturally. Deleting the thread will only make things worse. Come on internal communications people!

You know I speak the truth *look into my eyes Shocked *, you are feeling sleepy!

It is also highly libellous. Apparently.

Crikey imagine the outcry if they did. We'd have to start a hundred more topics.

As a professional journalist well versed in the law, I can assure readers that the content of the first thread was in no way libellous, unless something libellous was added to it very late that I didn't see before the deletion. Similarly, there is nothing libellous in this one.

Incidentally, I'm surprised that nobody has joined this thread over on the Atari forums to express a better balance of opinion:

Hang on...we're not the ones score fixing are we? We just want to be told the truth.

If its so worrying for them why not send a rep from the magazine into this thread to explain their position. Surely by deleting the thread they're confirming what we basically know...

To be honest, I think most people are worried about their post counts than the future of the thread...
