Technically it's flawed, therefore the disappointment comes in at a technical level. Gameplay wise it is not, therefore there really shouldn't be that much disappointment at all.

The cars handle great. They smash up great. The graphics are, in most cases, quite good. The rest of the game though isn't.

It's basically Dr1ver (okay not very clever but what the hell).

And Driver 1 was excellent....

Driver 1 can be got for next to nothing now so why waste your money on Driv3r then?

So I suppose that if someone re-released a good PS1 game on the PS2 at full price you would proclaim it to be great and immediately rush out and buy it? Think about what you're saying

So if Final Fantasy 7 was updated and re-released you wouldn't buy it? Just like you won't buy GT 4 or MGS 3 I suppose, which are effectively "updates" of the originals.

Maybe you should think about what you're saying.

Because I already own it.....

And because I'd like to play the next in the series....

Has anyone contacted the Sun yet?I know its not exactly a good paper but you know getting this sort publicity outside our "circle" can only be a good thing right.

I doubt they're going to be interested, somehow.

Particularly as they have their own "impartiality problem" going on - namely that all reviews of Fox movies in The Sun and News Of The World are always brilliant and at a minimum score of 4/5. Convenient that - given that News Corp owns the movie studio as well.

A good example is "The Day After Tomorrow". There's about 5 minutes of entertaining special effects, and then this film is probably the worst film I've seen in years. And I see a lot of films in a semi-professional capacity.

You implied that you thought the game was the same as driver 1. If you read my post you'll see that what I said was that if a game was re-released, not updated. I understand that this is probably not what you meant but thats how it reads

I certainly wouldn't call it broken. The game works, and it works how it's supposed to.

Right, because in the year 2004, cars do fly, people can pass through metal, invisible walls constantly hinder our progress and large, obvious objects have a tendency to pop up from out of thin air.

But no, I'm sure Reflections were supposed to leave those in. We'll call them features, shall we? Wink

Having a great handling & damage system doesn't make a full game. You need good, enjoyable missions to bind the game together. An interesting story to keep you playing. A graphics engine that works when on the move. Actors that are interested. Music that doesn’t grate after 2 minutes of play Everything needs to come together & in this it doesn't. A few more months would of done the world of good.

Take the Getaway; though it wasn't the greatest game obviously, it felt finished, the story was interesting, the on foot sections worked (even if a stupid camera did get in the way). And, that I've noticed didn't have any technical faults either. Though flawed it felt solid.

If you'd bothered to read the rest of my f*cking post I would have said it's a technical underachiever.

F*ckwit...

Dave, you contradicted yourself in your own post FFS.

How?

The game isn't broken, there's nothing stopping you from playing it through to completion. It works despite having technical flaws.

Why do I get the feeling that this is some kind of Atari guy (or even worse, Future guy??) trying to hijack the thread and divert attention from what we're talking about? Maybe I'm just paranoid

I would, but I can't be 100% sure that he's not just posting from the same college or something.....
