Hi guys

I think I have the interview of Joćo Sanches you were looking for. I made it a few years ago. Here it is :

Ludicrously high review scores are handed out in exchange for exclusivity and cover deals, the tone of the magazine is artificially altered to keep readers happy rather than inform them of the truth (however sombre), and other sordid details I won't bother you with here.

It's there all right, and it's coming from Edge.

End of debate.

Game must've been getting suspicious, I only got it for £4.

You're absolutely right though. In no way is that a review. It's the same with the Galleon one. Exactly the same. Read through it KKLEIN! You'll see what I mean.

I am going to buy Edge next thanks to that atrocity of a magazine. Unless it decides to improve. Look at the language too. You don't use abbreviated words (such as IMO) in a proper magazine, it's unprofessional.

Well, I can't see this going down for a long time. I wouldn't be surprised if it made it into the news/press in some way or other.

XBW and PSM2 have dug themselves a deep hole to climb out of.

As for the Joao Sanches interview, it says it all really.

I know that having read this historical topic, I will never buy Xbox World again unless they buck up.

Okay, now correct me if I'm wrong; but doesn't the game have the usual sticker on the front of the box with two review scores on? Anyone care to guess which two particular magazines these come from...
I think you know the answer.
Anyone with a copy to hand who can check? I'll look tomorrow in work otherwise.

If it does, then it certainly gives some credence to this topic no?

The Xbox version has an XBW sticker saying 9/10 on it with the obligatory arse kissing comment.

I'd be glad to see Atari go bust after this. If anything, it'll stop them from doing dodgy stuff with Unreal Championship 2.

Well that's a pretty naive comment. Many of the writers write for or have written for more than one mag you realise. They contribute to all sorts.
Geraint Evans reviews for NGC and Gamesmaster (He did MK:DD for both). Marcus Hawkins the editor of NGC used to edit PSM2. They are basically one big team and so critisims do cover the whole group.

Doesn't that scare you more though? If it happens on one magazine, what are the chances of it happening on another magazine run by the same people? Pretty high I'd say.

Well NGC never dissapointed me and I still trust them a lot, although I always check these forums to. So as long as NGC maintain it's reputation I will buy it on a regular base. Thumbs up to you guys. To bad driver 3 turned out to be such a bad game.

I like how the places giving this a 3 were the places that hyped this game up the most after extended playtests and previews. Laughing

Atari Press Release

Quote:
"Our worldwide shipment (2.5 Million) is right in line with our plan for DRIV3R," said Bruno Bonnell, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Atari. "The global Driver fan base is as robust and passionate as ever, as indicated by retail reaction in the U.S., the U.K., Germany, France, and other key territories," Mr. Bonnell stated.

Debbie Mola, Divisional Vice President of Merchandising at Electronics Boutique, said: "With just three days of sales, DRIV3R is certain to be one of our top three sellers for the month of June. We had high expectations for the title and it is meeting them."

We had high expectations too, sadly those have not been met, not by a long shot..

I returned my copy to Game today and the Game salesmen said, I quote "We expect many more to be returned"

I'd love to see an Atari rep come on here and explain why they have released an unfinished game.

But if Driv3r was coming out on all formats, which Magazine would have got the exclusive Gamecube code? NGC most likely. I'm not doubting the integrity of the individual writers, but is it really outrageous to assume that a policy in place for one magazine would be the same for another magazine across the hallway?

You're missing the point of this thread a bit I think. It's not about how big a let down the game is or if it met your expectations or what have you....
Try reading a bit of the topic. I think you'd then see that the quality of the game is not the main focus of discussion here.
