Nope, will take a look.

EDIT: Had a look....

CVG wrote:
CVG has already received word from readers complaining of bugs and glitches hinted at in the U.S. reviews. We contacted Atari regarding this matter, but a spokesperson for the company remained unavailable at the time of writing.

Driv3r is out and it's already selling like hotcakes, but what do we think of it? Well, we'd love to be able to tell you, but despite the game already being out in numerous locations across the UK, ahead of this Friday's official launch, CVG.com has yet to receive any review code from Atari.

Surprise surprise.

This little nugget of info is in the equivalent thread to this one on Eurogamer......

Having worked in the PR dept at Atari, there's no doubt in my mind that 'money changed hands' in some form or other. It's usually in the form of 'up our score and we'll take out more ads in your mag next month'. Not a direct 'bung' as such as the money is going towards the advertising.

Been there. Seen that. Left the company in disgust.

Hmmm......

Yes I've read through that forum.

In these days of anonimity it's easy to make false claims about who you are or what you do. Who to trust though eh? Nice post of yours bigging up the GR forum though. Did they pay you off for that? Laughing

Yeah, you can make things up, but it didn't look like he was, to be honest.

Sadly GR don't pay me for pimping them on other forums, but when there's something that GR can contribute to a discussion, I'm more than happy to provide a link.

I'll just echo your thoughts. Bring on the edge review.

3/10 was way too harsh. now it is in a league with twin caliber and other crappy games. I think they could at least have given it 3 more, having played it now, i think they rated it so bad because they are disappointed in this game and judged it out of their expectations.

I can just see the front cover of OPS2 now - "You've read the sh*t now read the shocking truth!” And it's not like they wouldn’t either, it'd be a great boost to the magazines reputation no doubt. Not that they wouldn't have done the same if given half the chance though obviously.

And Nellis, if you come on here & say "it's great" you're not gonna be fooling anyone.

I don't think OPS2M will want to upset Atari either, to be honest.

No, it'll be Games TM that savage it, and write across the cover IMO, along with any other mags that always say what they think.

On the subject of Mario Kart Double Dash!!, I don't think Nintendo paid off NGC and the other overscorers; it's more likely that the reviewers are complete fanboys and scored the game too highly of their own fanboyish accord. Which is obviously just as bad.

Don't think it is, the motives of the 2 actions are poles apart.

Lying to your readership is criminal no matter what the motive. There's no excuse.

MKDD was NOT a buggy mess beset by fatal gameplay problems. It was different and certainly not to everyones liking. Edge called it like they saw it and have been doing so for a very long time. Disagreeing with that review is fair enough. They were honest.

This is a different kettle of hoo haa altogether.

True-Mario kart may have been disappointing-but the only bug was the cheating A.I-and thats always in Mario kart.

I don't think you can really call that a bug seeing as it was done deliberately.

You've misunderstood. I agree with Edge's review but I'm slightly cynical of the other reviews that gave MK:DD a far higher score than it deserves. There's no way it's a 9/10 game; an average game deserves an average score.
