Land Now
(1) Indicating seating. (2) An attempt to restore order.
Example 1: (Lowering oneself into one's chair.) "Land Now."
Example 2: "And another thing - they cut cartoons if there's anything remotely offensive; by which they mean anything that isn't blandly nice like episodes of Hong Kong Phooey that you can leave a tiny child unattended to watch, because that's all it is, isn't it? Kidvid. There's nothing of any value in a cartoon, it's just visual wallpaper without any pretence to quality or interest. Did you know that - " "Land Now, Jonathan. Land Now."
Secret origin: From the end-of-level instructions in Uridium 2.
First used: AP32.

Alphabet

Lawks
Epithet.
Example: "Freeze! You're all under arrest." "Lawks."
Secret origin: Traditional. Popularised by legendary television programme The Young Ones.
Note: "Lawks a lordy" can only be used in times of emergency, such as if you're being killed.

Alphabet

Lose X. Thanks
(1) Indicating something has gone on far too long. (2) A form of farewell.
Example 1: " - one of the reasons Nickelodeon gave for firing John Kricfalusi off Ren and Stimpy was that "Ren was too confrontational"? They'd really have preferred a Tom and Jerry Show approach, where the two became close, personal friends. And then there's - " "Lose Jonathan. Thanks."
Example 2: "Cheerio everyone." "Lose Jonathan." (As door closes.) "Thanks."
Secret origin: From the bit in the War episode of The Day Today where they want to cut from Douglas Hurd to the Day Today mini-cam missile flying down a soldier's throat.
Note 1: The delivery is important - a flat, loud, important pronunciation, with a dramatic pause after "X" and a barely perceptible nod on the "Thanks."
Note 2: Timing the "Thanks" as the subject disappears from view is a satisfying bonus.

Alphabet

Lummocks
Epithet.
Example: "The building's alight! And we're trapped on the twenty-eighth floor." "Lummocks."
Secret origin: Traditional. Popularised by Your Sinclair.
Note: Not to be confused with "lummox," the endearingly moronic wonder of nature profiled in the last half-decent episode of Ren and Stimpy, Untamed World 2.

Alphabet

Lummee
Epithet.
Example: "This is God speaking. I've decided to obliterate the planet and start again with sparrows." "Lummee."
