Yeah, cos that's not what any of the previews/reviews that I've read are saying. Even if they are automatically pro-Spiderman as they're American.

I'm shocked to see this thread is still going, and I really have nothing to add, but I've got to congratulate you, Eighthours and you Steve. You've done a great job with it. Cheers.

Lets face reality here. Future don't give two sh*ts about what the reader thinks. They bully the industry to get the games first, you really have no choice but to buy their crap if you want to read something on your beloved franchises. Both Future and Atari have one aim, make as much money as possible out of dumb mugs before the it hits the fan. It can't have escaped anyones attention that PSM2 is pushing the 'free game in the bag' promo and surprise, surprise... they are Atari products! Stratagically placed in the issue before and after the Driv3r review issue. Also intersting is the fact that the two mags run by ex-computec staff PSW and Xbox Gamer don't have Driv3r reviews at all... Hmmm. Clearly these guys smelt the turd and where prevented from slagging the game. I think Future can live with Edges comments simply because they have a reputation (sometimes for the sake of it mind) to be different and controversial. This and the fact that the majority of Edge readers wouldn't be seen dead walking out of a store with an Atari product uder their arm. [snip - libel ed]. Another crock that tied in nicely to a cover review and playable demo. I think we all need to wake up to the reality that Future want your MONEY! They'll do whatever is required to get your MONEY. They will do whatever it takes to stop you giving your MONEY to someone else. They will do whatever it takes to stop other publishers from making MONEY! If you accept this fact then you can purchase Future magazines and never really care whether the review scores are whack or not. I accepted this fact about 10 years ago and whilst I am not a regular of any of their magazines I will still pick up the odd copy of two if its nicely put together.

Having read the respnoses form the reviewing magazines that: They where given incomplete code but given every reasurance that all bugs would be fixed. Well what the hell did they expect the PR guys who they where incontact with would say? "Nah mate its gonna be shite on relase but just lie about it in your review hey?"

I had this out with the PCZone team in thier forum after their suspisiously bug free review of Black and White on PC and thier reply was almost word for word the same inexcusable excuse of company PR assured them it would be bug free at launch.
These ppl work in in an industry where PR BS is flying at them from all angles they should know thier stuff when it comes to being fed a line to garner a favaroble review. They are either mindless puppets who nod and "uh-huh" with a blank stare on thier face at every thing a companies PR feeds them or they are aware of the corruption they are partaking in.

If your talking to a company about inadequacies in thier product and they are relying on you to sell that product what do you expect??

@falsebit. Magazine reviews, your product is mostly aimed at children with a low disposable income, you lie to these children and teach them to distrust people. You teach them it is ok to lie for money. You know those company PR guys are feeding you lines ITS THIER FRIKKEN JOB!
you are either fnucking retarded or filthy liers.

I work in retail and im told to lie for sales all the time. But i will, infront of my area manager, tell a customer my honest oppinion and tell the truth at the expense of a sale. My integrity and the happines of other people is more important than any backhander or company incentive or commision or even my job. So dont lie to us, we've got your number you are pond scum.

The edge review this month is pretty much spot on in my opinion.

err, are you on drugs? Proof for what? That PSM2 reviewed Spiderman 2? It's on the shelves in all good newsagents and game stores if you care to look.

and err, most game stores with gamepods and a copy of the game will happily put Spiderman 2 on for you all you need is to ask.

Would you like me to prove that I breath air next? Laughing

I have been reading here for many moons just never really had the incentive to post. Yes, I despise Future products though its more down to the company ethics and their way of doing business than the low paid morons who are dragged out of the farms to write the garbage. Its actually quite a shame really. Most publishers envy the money that Future have to spend putting together a nice product but behind the gloss and the spot varnish lie a sneaky, cruel bunch of tossers. They will lie right to your face, then tear seven shades of sh*t out of competitors for doing the same. I could live with the scores, inflated or not. Most gamers with average intelligence will source plenty of comments from a variety of mags/websites and then make up their own mind. Myself? I check out Famitsu scores, then websites, see what Gamefaqs forums have to say then I might just ignore it all together if its something I just think is cool. Silent Hill 4 fits into that category right now. Early Famitsu scores ranked it high, then Gamefaqs regulars started bitching, too frustrating, not 'silent hill-ish enough. Put me off? No, I had it on pre-order anyways, going to make up my own mind. Feel sorry for the majority of the young 'uns though who don't have that much money and are naive to think mags really are trustworthy. The video games sector is full of bitching and backstabbing. Future breed that mentality into every farmhand that works there. Am I industry? I do work in publishing but nothing to do with videogames. Just see me as another disaffected consumer trying to bring down the corporate Satan!!

My point was that every website, magazine, whatever that I have read seems to think the games pretty good. The games not even out for christ's sake!

HELLO, WAKEY WAKEY. Just because you can't see the game on the shelves it does not mean the store doesn't have it in stock. Rolling Eyes

Hang on you think that game stores don't get the stock untill the release day? ha,ha,ha thats some funny $hit Laughing

The local Virgin Megastore in my hometown has had it on their PS2 pod for the last week now, oddly enough a promotional copy, you do know what that is I take it? Don't be so bloody naive....

And no it's not good, it's awful in about every department.
