No, because I'm going to write all of this down on the inside of my eyelids, so I'll never forget. NEVER.

I'm afraid he is representing the views held by hundreds of people who do own the game and are simply not happy.

I've saved the most important parts of this topic to my PC so just in case this get's removed for any reason it's always there.

I look forward to reading both replies from Steve & Nellis. Did I mention I love this place. No? Well I do. Razz

It's not rubbish. It's what we genuinely think. We think it's fundamentally broken, and it contains no enjoyment.

You don't agree? Fine. But that doesn't make our opinion rubbish. Please don't bounce off us as a way to try and justify your own scoring.

P.S. A 6/10 for no enjoyment and fundamental flaws? Blimey.

Yes. I have to say I've grown accustomed to its face. Very Happy

And yes, when talking about opinion over fact it's quite bad form to rubbish another websites review. Infact somewhere in the middle of those is probably about right. Like the 5 from Gamespot.

Well it's not quite Dino Dini vs Stuart Campbell, but it's got potential! Very Happy

Good work.

Shall we all form a ring around the two combatants and scream "FIGHT FIGHT! KIIIIIILL!!!" This is the most heated topic we've had here for a long time. My money's on Bailey and the word-of-mouth power behind him.

Just to bring up another point....IGN announced that the game went gold on JUNE 4. And yes, that includes the PS2 version. In layman's terms, that means the code wasn't finished until then.

Also, I remembered this from the other Driv3r review thread. The Eurogamer staffers weren't impressed.

Eurogamer wrote:
It absolutely, catagorically cannot have been finished code that PSM2 reviewed. Not a chance. Knowing magazine deadlines, they went to print probably at the beginning on May. For example, we contribute to Nintendo Official Mag, and did the last pages for it at the end of April, with the street date 11th May.
Realistically, they wrote that feature at the end of April, based on two or three days play and a further day writing (probably split between writers) and then laid out. My guess is that code was a mid April build, some way short (6-8 weeks) of gold master.
Release the hounds...

In terms of sheer wealth of information, contributions from the players involved, and the various plot-twisty shenanigans, this must be the best thread that Gamesradar has ever had.....

Neither can I. I'm expecting a really important phone call too yet I can't bring myself to log off. Curses to the technological limitations on a dial up connection...

Undeniably. There've been longer threads but they were mostly wishlists for GTA and the like. This must hold the record for staying on topic longest on top of all its other just-acquired accolades.

I just wish I could find that interview with Sanchez in which he basically admitted everything that goes on in the magazine industry. The link was posted here but I've forgotton who actually posted it. It was on some French gaming site. I thought Google was meant to find everything...

It was on Playstation.co.uk's forums but the Admin deleted it for 'legal reasons'.

The PS2 code was finished, PSM2 were not lying. Sony and MS have different submission deadlines, the PS2 code is always finished first with multi-platform titles. The code we had was a few weeks off - the game in it's entirety was there - cutscenes, sound, whatever - the remaining dev time was for polishing, we were told. As I said in my original post, I will look at the boxed game tonight and post again tomorrow.

I fail to see how the Stephen is qualified to comment on a game that he has NOT EVEN PLAYED. Jeez...

Thanks for actually having the decency to come on here and try and explain, you didn't have to and it's nice of you to take the time out and actually respond to the consumer, something 99% of companies dismiss.

I, like yourself, am thoroughly enjoying the game despite it's technical flaws. It would be interesting to hear from you what Atari told you would be polished, and what indeed actually wasn't in the final result.

And GameCentral blokey, I agree it is all a matter of opinion, but awarding a game 3/10 is like saying it's on par with Hugo or Army Men, which it obviously is not.
