Lou Reed's 70s concept album, comprising 64 minutes and four seconds of electronic bleeps, buzzes, crackles and feedback noises is generally considered to be the world's most unlistenable record of all time.

On getting hold of a friend's copy, though, I thought it at least deserved a fair chance, and put it on in the office one afternoon. In actual fact, I found it curiously ambient and relaxing (in much the same way that people do with, say, The bloody Orb), and allowed it to run through all four 16-minutes-and- one-second sides.

No one actually offered much in the way of comment, but Jacquie kept disappearing and then coming back, appearing to have been weeping.
