RTV VIDEO DIARY VIDEO REVIEW - October 1995
Imagine the dullest end-of-match interview you've ever
seen, perhaps one given by Tony Adams at the end of a particularly arduous 0-0 draw
between Arsenal and Wimbledon. Imagine all the usual bland inanities, complete with
incomprehensible idiot footballers and their mangled grammar. Now imagine it going on for
an hour, and you've got a pretty fair picture of a Rangers Video Diary. This
particular edition (this appears to be an ongoing series, may God have mercy on their
souls) is especially gruelling, covering as it does the summer period and some pre-season
friendlies (so stand by for what feels like days of agonisingly unexciting space-padding
footage of meaningless, heartless, pointless games against Steau Bucharest), as well as
the mighty Gers' heroic 1-0 aggregate defeat of the legendary Anorthosis of Cyprus
(cough) in the Champions League, but the mealy-mouthed production on display here could
undoubtedly make a couple of months when several Rangers players were shot by snipers from
the Broomloan stand and the entire back four arrested for being implicated in the Fred and
Rose West murders sound flat and lifeless, even with presenter Gordon Inglis as
out-of-his-mind-on-Es-and-wizz as he clearly is here. So in conclusion, then. Clearly, if you're not a Rangers fan, you're going to find this unwatchable even at gunpoint. And if you are a Rangers fan, then why don't you just PISS OFF YOU WORTHLESS GLORYHUNTING SCUM. For example. VERDICT: I'm sorry, I don't know what came over me. Insufferable drivel for even the most evolved Gers fan. They're taking the piss out of you, don't encourage them. * |
