As all creatures are constructed from 16 strands of DNA and as an infinite number of chess books can be read and you still lose to someone who calls it a horse but not in the same way and wasn't it 64 strands? so can all of AMIGA POWER's jokes be extrapolated from the Legendary Five.
The origins of these, the Elder Jokes, are obscure. There be some who do say it were Jack O'Lantern himself who invented them to use as riddles in snaring unwary travellers in his woods, and there be others who do point to the famous Hammer writer John Elder, but by beating these people soundly we generally escape their attentions.
The truth of the matter is, no one knows just when the Five AP Jokes came into existence. The unconfirmed though universally accepted first sighting occurred moments after Stuart Campbell, stuck for an idea for a house ad, pulled up a picture of Reservoir Dogs Sal and hacked out some lines about all of AP's jokes being based on five originals, then printed that out and showed it around. However, a small but vocal group highlight John Elder's work appearing as early as 1958 and we have to kick them until they stay down.
One thing is for sure. The Five Hardy Jokes have never been identified.
Until, that is, now.
Until now, that is.
No, until, that is, now. Weightier.
They are... oh no! Eek! (Clunk.) Aarrghhh! (Thud.)
(Silence.)
"What a terrible ending."
"Silence! They haven't turned the page yet."
"Quick! Let's escape into the border or insult Keith Campbell, I forget which."
