Hmmm. Obviously this was around the time the Churchill Archive was bought for £12 million to prevent his grandson offering it to America or somewhere.
It's not really a very good idea, because the original story was much funnier.
(The archive turned out to be some letters along the lines of "Dear Basil, Went to the shops. Bought some bread but no eggs because there's a war on. Bye, Winston.")
It was majorly rewritten by Cam, but he couldn't save it. A poor Back Page indeed.
(Though effortlessly better than an interview with a large hairy programmer.)
Slightly interestingly, the "original hand-scrawled Top 100 on four A4 sheets" was supposed to have gone in the Sack of Cack but we forgot.
Perhaps not at all interestingly, then.
A good excuse to print the withdrawn cover of AP32, however. And I was pleased to see that the artist had spelled "weird" correctly on his cover sketch.
