Thrillingly, I can reveal that this was another modification from when I was in a musical double-act (with Dave Pape, natch) called "The International Spazmos Of Death" (I was much younger, you understand).
We would introduce ourselves and explain that we got our name because "When it comes to death - we're the international spazmos OF IT."
The joke worked just as well when we changed our name to (variously) "The Self-Immolating Followers Of Buddha" (because when it comes to Buddha...) and, most ambitiously of all, "Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom" (because when it comes to Doom, we are Indiana Jones and the temple of...)
