SUBSCRIBER'S LETTER 5 - June 1993
Dear Subscriber, Er, hello. It's Stuart here again, unfortunately. Sorry. Still, the good news is that Linda's been discharged from hospital since we put the letters pages together, so hopefully there's only a few weeks of R&R to go before she's back in the Big Chair where she so rightly belongs and you're spared 500 words of my useless old tommyrot every month. But anyway, we're not out of the woods yet, so on with the issue 28 rundown. Yes. We're a bit embarrassed here at The Magazine With Attitude this month, if the truth be known. What with our reputation as rock-hard tough-to-please mean dudes when it comes to game reviewing, the fact that we've been compelled to give no less than three of our seven main game reviews scores in excess of 90% has caused averted eyes and shadow-skulking all round when in the company of other journalists. Mind you, the silver lining for you lot is that that means there's a joyful proliferation of red-hot software about to hit the shelves of your favourite software shop, so I guess it's not all bad. To celebrate this sudden burst of quality, we've gone to town on review space a bit, with Syndicate getting one of our rare four-page treatments and Gunship 2000 and Yo! Joe! both netting three, which has meant we've had to pay a price in feature space, but watch out next month, when we've got some particularly neat stuff lined up for you. Honest. Also, after a veritable flood of letters, we've got, er, a big pile of letters on the floor beside my desk. Damn. I was hoping that was going to lead somewhere a bit more interesting. Frankly, I can't really bring myself to write any more today, chums. We've just heard that our sister magazine Your Sinclair is going to close next month after 10 glorious years at the top, and we're all a bit choked. Both Linda and ex-AP Ed Matt Bielby cut their journalistic teeth on YS, and it's been a constant companion to me since I first got into computer games all those years ago. Things just aren't going to be the same around here without it. Sniff. There will now be a short one-paragraph silence in memory of the Spectrum and all who sailed in her. . . . . . Thank you. See y'all next month, and that kind of stuff. Stuart Campbell Auxiliary Daisy-Wearer |
