ORIGIN: UK Pocketeer no. 31285 (1976) VARIANTS: Pocket Rally GAMEPLAY: A toy rather than a game - there's no set objective, no timer and no real obstacles. Your car is controlled by a magnet under the play area, directed by the two rollers. Best played as a challenge with friends, deciding on a course (there's a start/finish line at the bottom left) and timing each other to complete it. Strangely diverting when played on your own, though, and a natural ancestor of computer games like Sim City. |
VARIANT: Pocket Rally ORIGIN: US Tomy Pocket Game (also described as "Tomy Pocketmate" at the bottom of the case). DIFFERENCES: Name, minor graphics changes. (And a huge, annoying logo splashed over the top of the playfield.) |
