CASE 1: CLUB MONOPOLY

Club Monopoly is a four-reel "club" machine with a £250 jackpot. This type of machine is only allowed to be operated in members-only premises, rather than normal pubs or arcades. The machine works in exactly the same way as an ordinary pub machine, though.

Unzip all files to the same folder.

On loading the RAM file and inserting a credit in the machine, the first spin will produce no win. The second spin, however, will award nudges. Press "C" to collect, then nudge in Reel 1 for a three-oranges win for £1.60. You will now have the chance to gamble the win. A "10" will be showing on the number reel. Press the "Hi" button to go higher. A "12" will spin in and you'll win the gamble. The sequence will continue like this:

From the 12, go "Low" to get a 4.
From the 4, go "High" to get a 6.
From the 6, go "Low" to get a 2.
From the 2, go "High" to get a 4.
From the 4, go "High" to get a 5.

At this point, you'll have gambled the win up to £25. However, the machine doesn't want you to gamble any further. If from the 5 you select "High", the machine will spin in a 3 and you'll lose. If, on the other hand, you select "Low", the machine will spin in a 9 and you'll lose. You can reload the RAM file and try again as many times as you like, but the number sequence will always be exactly the same.

Incidentally, if you elect to use the "feature exchange" facility from the 5 instead of gambling, you'll get the "Cash Track" feature. This feature, however, is equally predetermined. You will land on squares in this sequence:

£1, £10, Station Repairs (lose £7), £10, £3, 10 Nudges, 11 Nudges, 15 Nudges, 17 Nudges, Feature (Nudge Shuffle)

Let the Nudge Shuffle feature play out and you'll win £30.

In every possible scenario, the machine has completely predetermined the outcome. The player's input has no effect whatsoever, except in as much as it's possible to collect the winnings before the machine forces you to lose. There is no "gambling" involved at all, and the choice of "High" or "Low" on the 5 is fraudulent misinformation.
