Yeah, you can just imagine what the next day in the office would be like. Total Hell. _________________ That's a disc drive. What's been in them you ask? Well:

But can anyone actually confirm that's a bug or an easter egg? |
Dave, while I am thankful for your post a while back that pointed me to Special Reserve's five PC games bargain, I have to say..
You're trying WAY too desperately to make the game seem good here. Why the hell would a car continually going around in a circle in midair be an easter egg? Also, if I have twenty reports of bugs, bad collision detection, unrealistic physics, faulty cutscenes and the like, these are not countered by you merely saying you haven't encountered them when YOU'VE been playing it.
The game has flaws. You may be able to put aside these flaws, and enjoy the next installment of the Driver series like you wanted to. There's nothing wrong with that at all. Fact is, though, for most of us - these flaws ARE too big to make the game worth considering. If anybody encounters flaws like this, the game is blatantly not finished properly.
And just in case you try to say that things aren't wrong with the game...

Explain the car barely being affected by hitting a car, then ending up upside-down after hitting a lamppost. Explain the blatant pop up.

Explain Atari not allowing some sites to print their reviews until the 25th, the day after the game comes out in America, coincidentally. (The review gave the game 70% before it got pulled, btw.)
There is SOMETHING wrong here. And hell, even if you do like the game, you have to admit that some of the tactics being used by Atari here seem slightly underhand at best... |

I got the game this morning and after a good solid 4hrs play I can honestly say that Driv3r is brilliant!!!!!
I have the ps2 version and dont get any of the problems that people have been complaining about. I think it must just be the xbox version thats full of bugs. The only slight glitch I found was when I ran someone over with a pickup truck and the guy landed in the back and stayed there for about 2 minutes, but it was funny and didn't effect gameplay at all.
If I was to give this game a score, i would probably give it 90-93% the graphics are superb for ps2 and easily beat GTA and getaway. The handling and damage are both excellent, the car swerves round corners very easily. There are loads of things to do and the 3 cities are so detailed that it will take forever to explore them all. Every house is different and they all have gardens and extra bits to explore.
I have heard other people say that the game freezes, but it hasn't happened to me yet. The only small issues i have with the game are the slight pop-up in Nice (it's no worse than vice city), and the very occasional slow-down (doesn't slow down much and its hardly noticeable). Both these problems are very minor and I probably wouldn't even have noticed them if other people hadn't already made a huge deal about them in the reviews.
I really can't believe how bad people think this game is. I haven't played the xbox version, but the ps2 version is great. There is no way that this game deserves 3/10 (as channel 4's gamecentral gave it today). I think this could turn out to be the most underrated game ever if the negative reviews keep appearing. _________________ "He’s thrown a kettle over a pub, what have you done?" - Gareth, The Office |

Yes there is slight pop-up as I've already said, it's not that bad though. I've seen a lot worse, and it doesn't affect gameplay. It hardly hits a car, it scrapes along the side of it! That's exactly what would happen in real life. And yes the lamp-post issue is the only unrealistic thing about it, but then ripping a lamp post out of the ground a la Vice City is also unrealistic. _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86

But the physics ARE crap.
When on this earth would a friggin truck jerk forward if it crashed into anything? By jerk forward I mean go onto the front wheels, like an Endo in motorbike terms. That would NEVER EVER happen.
That's beside the point though.

What is the difference between the XBox & PS2 versions of this game?
dodgy_dave, which version do you have?
I think I'm gonna rent this game, I just need to know which is the best technically (if either). |

Technically the Xbox looks and, as far as I'm aware, runs smoother than the PS2 version, although the aforementioned problems with draw distance and, to a lesser extent, slowdown are still prominent.
I don't think the differences between the two versions are that extreme to worry too much about missing out, although if you do have the equipment available to play either version, you'd be advised to pick up the Xbox one simply due to the improved visuals and smoother performance. |

I have the Xbox version of the game, and have no idea what the differences are, other than you can use custom soundtracks and download other peoples replays on Xbox. _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86

A lamp post would dent and probably get slightly uprooted. There isn't much that wouldn't move if you were driving toward it at god knows what speed.
That's another thing I noticed. Where the hell is the speedometer? You get to choose from MPH and KPH but they don't show on screen. _________________ Join the Unnamed Forums! >click<

Agreed, especially in an articulated lorry building up high revs down a main road. In a car, it's likely that the post would stop the car dead in its tracks, although since this would - and evidently has - frustrate the player, why not add it to the list of destructable scenery and keep the driving at an entirely acceptable and exciting pace? |

I know that but you're arguing about the physics. We all know a lamp post would buckle over, but in Driver 3 it doesn't. It acts like an exceedingly heavy object that doesn't budge, hence the back wheels leaving the ground.
And it does show the speed on one mission that I've done so far. _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86
