Yes I do. Does that mean to say that my opinion doesn't count. Because otherwise this arguments going nowhere if you're just gonna hold a biased attitude the whole way through.
You have yet to play the game, so therefore all you know is through word of mouth. How can you possibly slate something that you haven't even played. |
No Dave your opinion is perfectly valid. However you must be able to sense the growing feeling amongst the community that something can't be right here with these two magazine scores? |
I've have already said if other people want to hate it then so be it. I for one am willing to let off slight technical issues, that in no way affect the gameplay of the game, and enjoy a perfectly good video game.
There might be a pay off, there might not be. Nobody knows, and nobody ever is going to know. It wouldn't have been the first time and it certainly won't be the last.
If I was a reviewer then I would have definitely given it 90% at least, without a pay off. What's to say they thought the same??
My God, some people might actually find it good! _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86

PSM2 say that 4 or 5 of their writers take a look at the game......therefore Dodgy Dave, since you're one of the only people who thinks that the game's worth 90%, how do you square that circle?? _________________ Humiliate John Rodney Bennett

Very true Dave. One mans Michelangelo is another man's load of old wadge.

The magazines in question are surely shooting themselves in the foot in situations like this though aren't they?
I mean, fair enough, they might get a nice lump sum from the publisher in the short term, but then when people actually play the game for themselves when it is released, they will realise that the review was bollocks, which would obviously effect their reputation and therefore, their long term sales of the magazine.
The magazines job is to inform people about a games quality, or in this case lack of. If they go spouting on about how good it is and give it 9/10, then the readers take their word for it and go and buy it, then they are not going to be very happy about it when the game turns out to be shite.
It just seems very stupid of the mags to do it, good in the short term but in the longer term its fucks them up.
I do agree that this sort of stuff does go on though, I haven't played Driv3r but even I can see that these reviews must be dodgy with the amount of negative feedback the game is getting. _________________ [>Photowall<] [>GR Celebdaq<] [>Pub Quiz<]

How do you possibly expect me to back up the points of half the PSM2 team. Maybe they all liked it? Remember they look at games from the whole spectrum, from the absolute sh*t ones through to AAA titles. They know what's good and what isn't. Consumers such as yourself on the other hand mainly only buy AAA titles, and so have a level of, shall we say, snobbery. If the game doesn't quite meet the standards you've grown accustom to you'll flame it for all it's worth, especially seeing as it's such a high-profile release.
Strictly on the technical side, no, it doesn't meet the standards of Vice City, but that doesn't stop it from being a damn fun game in it's own right. _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86

The game has been released a week early. There are only two reviews available for the game. Other reviews from the web have supposedly been pulled.
The whole thing smacks of a company that knows it's got a pile of pap on it's hands and are trying to sell what it has while it can. _________________ I came here to chew ass and kick bubblegum. And I'm all out of ass. |

Snobbery? I can see where you're coming from, but I don't see only wanting to buy high class products as being snobby, just being intelligent!!
The thing about this whole issue is that I've seen plenty of other titles get SLATED by PSM2 for far less technical crimes than Driv3r commits, and I think that's where your argument falls down. If technical considerations can mark a game down by quite an amount in other reviews, why not Driv3r?
Just wait for the EDGE and Games TM reviews. I can already see the Atari execs cowering in the corner. _________________ Humiliate John Rodney Bennett

Perhaps this game will be the one to bring this murky practice out into the spotlight? _________________ I came here to chew ass and kick bubblegum. And I'm all out of ass. |

It’s not dissing. Anyone “dissing” is ruining our chance to hear the counter-argument from PSM2 and XBW.
PSM2 bluffed their way out of it in the last thread and as people now own the game I thought it was a good opportunity to reopen the debate as it was clearly brushed under the carpet last time.
Did anyone download the ‘flying car’ movie? Maybe Driv3r is set in the year 2015 and it was just Doc Brown in his DeLorean? Who knows! _________________ Xbox Live Gamer Tag: Steve007

That is not my argument here. I have only ever bought a few issues of PSM2 and so cannot fairly compare review with review. I am simply saying that this may not be a conspiracy, it may be a genuine review. _________________ Gamertag: SoulSeeker86
